Chowmahalla Palace – A Royal Reservation !!

So, this was the day “couple of days before my birthday”, in  December 2014, I was on a Royal Reservation. It was fun and exhilarating for the fact that it was planned within couple of hours. It was all about happiness and gratitude that there are people in our life who simply care about living the moments in tits-and-bits of happy moments and taking care of what their beloved ones want. It was all about fulfilling the wishes. It was all about crazy smiles !!! And, we all boarded one of the most beautiful Nizam’s Palace in Hyderabad on Royal reservation. Exploring the Nizam’s world was like living the goodtimes in grandeur…

Me and My Friends, along with the Travellers from Romania !! And all our faces read, “We wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment. -Hilaire Belloc” 🙂

One built the Taj Mahal in the memory of his late wife and the other named a city after her. Hyderabad is a city with a history that reads like a love story and a past that sounds like a fairy tale. Hyderabad, more famous today as Cyberabad, was named because of the love of Muhammad Quli for Rani Bhagmati, later called Begum Haidar Mahal. It is a striking example of what inspired lovers are capable of doing. And what a love story it was!! The son of a Muslim king in love with a Hindu, village dancer.

The rule of the Nizams fill pages and pages of this history with a legendary patronage of arts, architecture and science.
Testimony to this sensitivity are the many exquisite monuments of Hyderabad. One monument that in its intrinsic grandeur still exudes the power of yore is the Chowmahalla Palace. (Chow means four. And Mahal means Palace. Chow-Mahalla therefore means four palaces). Built over 200 years ago, Chowmahalla is renowned for its unique style and elegance. A synthesis of many architectural styles and influences, the Palace Complex has been meticulously restored. The four palaces (mahal), it is comprised of are Afzal Mahal, Mahtab Mahal, Tahniyat Mahal and Aftab Mahal.

Once regarded as the center of Hyderabad, the magnificent Chowmahalla Palace was the seat of the Asaf Jahi dynasty for various religious and symbolic ceremonies  and also, where the Nizams entertained their official guests and royal visitors from across the world.

Chowmahalla is a location that’s trascendent for it’s exclusivity, and offers an experience that the guests will never forget.

So, if we go back to our school days, the two most prime attractions of Hyderabad, we read and heard of are Golkonda fort and Charminar. But then back in Kolkata in 2013, few days just before when I came to know that my next destination is going to be Hyderabad, I heard of Chowmahalla Palace (courtesy: photos of a travel loving friend on Facebook). And, now that I have already visited, I personally feel, Chowmahalla Palace is actually a must visit and the best part of it, is that it’s just 1 km ahead of Charminar.
Since my childhood, I visited a lot of palaces, courtesy my childhood spent in Rajasthan (a land of palaces and forts) . But Nizam’s palace is a whole different package, whether it’s the architecture or the intrinsic  design details or the depiction of Nizam’s life.

The Nizam !!

Beautiful intricate patterns !!
Though not so splendid, but beautifully maintained gardens along with the opulence of Nizam’s life are truly enchanting.
No doubt , that the royal fashion is always royal and resplendent, that has its elegance and beauty of eternity.
The attire of lil Nizams and the enthroned Nizam !!

The fashion and posing “Then” and “Now” 😉

The palace is definitely serene and artistic and royal. But the day had its own Opulence, Grandeur and Royalty !!
Her Highness 😉 !!   Royalty is completely different than celebrity, Royalty has a magic all its own. Living a day up to royalty...
Well, I preferred not to provide the facts and facets of the palace I would encourage all my readers to visit and explore and leave their footprints at the Palace to live their Goodtimes of Royalty.
